Christopher Mintz-Plasse in the infobox?

[edit]

Template:Infobox film says "As a starting point, use the WP:PRIMARY source of the billing block of the poster for the film's original theatrical release as a rule of thumb for listing starring actors". Mintz-Plasse is not credited in the poster.

However, he has a prominent role in the movie, he's 3rd listed in the screen credits, named in the plot in the movie's official site, 3rd in the cast in TCM and in many other sources.

Seems to me his name should be in the infobox. Itzcuauhtli11 (talk) 00:45, 3 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Apologies for the tardy reply. A long, long time ago I had the same kind of discussion regarding Gene Hackman's name not being in the infobox for The Firm as it does seem ridiculous. The argument is, if we allow it for one, we open every infobox to "well, they're in it and have a prominent role so they have to go in the infobox". Some people have the other argument (I've seen it in Fight Club) that only the prominent actors should go in the infobox (i.e Pitt and Norton). There has to be a reason why Mintz-Plasse wasn't included on the poster and it's probably because he wasn't a name at the time so couldn't sell the picture. Best to leave it alone I feel. Thank you for the reply. I guess a poor but well defined criteria is better than endless discussions. But then again, if that's the criteria, Template:Infobox film shouldn't say "As a starting point". I consider this issue closed. Itzcuauhtli11 (talk) 14:19, 7 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
