Twitter

[edit]

The notion of Twitter as an "everything app" thus far is just empty hype from Elon Musk, not at all reflective of reality. As such, it definitely doesn't belong in the lead as an example. Red XIV (talk) 10:40, 6 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

The cited source says "eventually turn Twitter into an 'everything app'", so yes, I agree the sources do not support that Twitter belongs in this article, and so it should be removed from the article. Elspea756 (talk) 22:07, 12 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
the subject of musk considering turning twitter into an "everything app" has been covered by significant news sources[see below], such as the verge, nbc, businessinsider, and forbes. i dont believe it is appropriate to exclude this kind of coverage of public disclosure and discussion on wikipedia; the planned convergance of an application from a micro-blogging platform to the eventual everything app (even if failed or not-yet eventualized) should be noteworthy as it is no small feat, particularly when it is currently owned by the most publicly-wealthy individual in the world and given the political circumstances of his role in the united states government. particularly now (feb 2025), current american political circumstances lend much speculation and attention to the matter. i believe that it is valuable in an encyclopedic context to include the history and developments of applications that have strived to evolve into everything apps, and that the history section of this article, at a minimum, should be expanded to include these developments.
