"It is known as 'Kerangas' because the soil in the heath forest is lacking in nutrients." In what language? The statement might be 'bollokkas' if it lacks verifiabilitudiness...

My lecturers told us that the word Kerangas came from the iban, which means stingy. The iban applies this word to a piece of land that cannot be used to farm rice paddy. I don't know if this is the actual meaning since I'm not an iban and I asked one of my friend who is in fact iban and heard no such word. But there are many ibans living in different parts of Borneo, so it could be coing from either of them.Gross 12:06, 21 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Found the meaning of Kerangas from this website. It means land where paddy cannot be grown. So stingy is not the actual meaning.Gross 12:17, 21 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
