  1. There is also a type of DIY telescope attachment for the viewing of the sun, which its inventor calles "SUN GUN": http://www.sunguntelescope.com. As of Sept 2012 one of those was in operation at the Observatory of the National Air and Space Museum, and several other major science centers also have one, so it could be quite well-known.
  2. There is also a type of light source for photography which was originally sold under the name of "Sun Gun": http://www.bluesky-web.com/sungun.htm

New Idea

I think the concave mirror part from space is a problem. Because with a new target, to concentrate on a different distance, the concavity would have to change for aiming in order to concentrate the light.
