Pictures

I have pictures of the interior of the Summit Public Library which I can include in the article; however, library policy is all photos of the inside of the library must be approved by the director. If and when such permission is made available, I'll include the pictures, otherwise, I'll only use pictures of the library's exterior.--Tomwsulcer (talk) 21:13, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Latest news on the picture front: I met with the director of the library, Glenn Devitt, who said that anyone wanting to take pictures anywhere inside the library needed not only permission from him, the director, but -- get this -- from the Library's Board of Trustees! I had to write a letter for submission to the board (which meets in November) to review the case, and decide whether it would allow pictures within the library! Why is this policy in place? In the past, according to Mr. Devitt, people taking pictures within the library alarmed a few select patrons who complained about people taking pictures -- was their privacy in jeopardy? As a result of a few complaints, (and with the library possibly fearful of lawsuits) the library instituted a "no pictures without prior permission" policy. My personal sense is: this is one more instance of how weird America has become. How overly litigious, rule-bound, procedure-whipped, America has become; is this what freedom is all about? And common sense has gone down the toilet. After November, after the board of trustees meets, and decides on the HUGELY important topic of whether Tomwsulcer can take pictures within the library of inanimate objects (I've long since given up on even thinking of taking the picture of any human), Mr. Devitt thinks the library board will approve the request but only allow pictures when the library is closed -- I'm not making this up. So, somebody will open up the library when nobody is there, let me walk about taking pictures for the Wikipedia article. So, if all goes according to plan, this article will have pictures of what the library looks like when it's closed, in December.
