Incorrect plural form

I think I introduced the plural form Somon here myself, because I found it a German-Mongolian dictionary. Now I found out that this is wrong, and was probably inspired by a russian form of the word. The correct plural in Mongolian is Сумууд, Sumuud.

Sumuud is a regular plural form, like Aimguud for Aimag. The question now is which plural form to use in the english language:

Sum, for both singular and plural (probably what we'll do in German)
Sums, the english standard plural form
Sumuud, the mongolian standard form, that we then need to explain to the readers.

I reset "somon" as the main term, because, since it is a type of division of Buryatia, Russia, it would be more likely that readers would be searching for a Russified form anyway.
