Suga said his name is based on Sugar Ray Leonard and Sean ”Suga” O’Malley.[1] Janna in fan mode (talk) 13:42, 6 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want made. Please detail the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. And it's unlikely that Suga is being honest about the origins of his stage name in that video, given that he debuted years before O'Malley became famous. This sentence must be update: "The stage name Suga (슈가) is derived from the first syllables of the term shooting guard (슈팅 가드), the position he played in basketball as a student.[63]" In April 2026, BTS member SUGA revealed his stage name was inspired by boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard and UFC fighter Sean O'Malley, not the previously believed "shooting guard" basketball term. Suggested by Bang Si-hyuk, the name reflects his technical, fast, and precise rap style, commonly referred to as "Suga" in boxing. ~2026-26437-62 (talk) 16:14, 1 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
