Misleading

One switch is missing in pic (comparator neg input to GND), and step 1 is pointless. And would be better to have the example without offset to simplify the example then mention offset separately after. And for same reason have example with 4 or 5 caps, not "N". Isn't the animation for a "9-bit" not a "10-bit" SAR

Example 1 starts with "The ten steps to converting an analog input to 10 bit digital" and uses this animation: [[:File:ADC animation 20.gif|Successive approximation animation]]

But isn't that really just a 9-bit conversion. I know that the x-axis is labeled with notches starting at 1 and ending at 10, but there are only *9* steps between those notches. (Going from 1 to 2 is the 1st step, and going from 9 to 10 is the 9th step). And I know in the top-right corner there are 10 bits, but the right-most bit is always 1 and doesn't seem to be contributing to the conversion in this animation. Example 2 later treats that initial state as "Initial" step, and considers the first branch to be the "First" step:
So it seems that GIF might be better redone with the first number in the x-axis being labeled as "initial" or "0" and then have every number subtracted by 1, so it is more clear that is really just 9-bit conversion. Em3rgent0rdr (talk) 20:00, 3 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

These methods have suplanted that ones in this article. Should this be a new article, or appended onto an already too long one?
