"Briefly known as"

[edit]

I get the impression the "briefly known as" thing is supposed to be a humourous reference to "the artist formerly known as Prince", but unfortunately "briefly" can mean either "for a short time" or "in short", so use of "briefly" is ambiguous and not appropriate for the introductory paragraph. If someone knows which is really meant, please rephrase and if you think the cutesy joke part needs to be retained, move it further down and also explain it. I am not sure what the author who put "briefly" in meant, but I can confirm that it was "for a short period of time." Stomp started its life as the Trivial Text Messaging Protocol, but was renamed to Stomp. ( http://kasparov.skife.org/blog/src/stomp/ttmp-is-named-stomp.html ). If we look at the first mention of TTMP on the internet ( http://kasparov.skife.org/blog/src/pushing-logic-away.html ) on 2005-08-05 we see the rename on 2005-08-23, so it was TTMP for about 18 days before becoming Stomp. I've seen that there is a deletion request. I don't think that's a good idea. STOMP is to WebSocket almost what HTTP is to TCP. I'm glad this page exists and provided useful information and links to further material. Christianhujer (talk) 04:49, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
