Stripwork

- I don't think so. Isn't stripwork the making of dresses using strips of cloth? — if it isn't another profession altogether. Strapwork is architectural. Chiswick Chap (talk) 11:49, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you, Chiswick Chap, I wanted to ask here to see if there was a simple answer, if there isn't I will try to investigate later. The examples are architectural, "strip work of projecting tiles" at the Anglo Saxon church of St Mary sub Castro, Dover and a "lead font with inscribed stripwork" at Parham, West Sussex, in List of places of worship in Horsham District. - No, it's completely different, being straight lines, mostly vertical, whereas strapwork is all curly. It is common in Anglo-Saxon architecture, more often called "pilaster strips" or similar. St Peter's Church, Barton-upon-Humber is a classic example. Also found in Continental Romanesque architecture, which I know less about - see Lesene. A google search on "Stripwork Anglo-Saxon" is very productive. You could add to ASa or Lesene (the first perhaps better), and redirect there. Johnbod (talk) 16:50, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
