Ogden Nash

[edit]

"One would be in less danger / From the wiles of the stranger / If one's own kin and kith / Were more fun to be with" Johnsoniensis (talk) 06:46, 25 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

One's kin is typically one's family, and one's kith are typically one's friends and acquaintances. As my 79-year-old father is fond of saying, "you get to choose your friends, but not your relatives". He has had lots of friends, some good and some traitorous ones. But the only person who has ever tried to murder him (over an inheritance dispute) was his own brother. Family members tend to be more vicious and dangerous than any random acquaintance.
