Promoter of Covid-19 misinformation

This man has been promoting Covid-19 misinformation for quite some time now. You can clearly see this on his show, which is often featured on Rumble, a news site rated as having an extreme right bias with low factual reporting according to MediaBiasFactCheck.

Wikipedia articles have been making note of people who've been spreading Covid-19 misinformation. I'm hoping someone can take the time to do it with this article. 174.251.161.213 (talk) 08:50, 12 January 2022 (UTC)

Peters is an Internet personality not a radio personality

Stew Peters content is exclusively online Its a misnomer to call him a radio host unless we indicate that he's and "internet radio" host. None of his content is broadcast on terrestrial radio The show is in podcast form (banned from many podcast hosting sites due to anti vaxx disinfo) and is broadcast live on Rumble a right leaning Youtube like site with a low moderation policy. Calling India's moon landing fake

Marjorie Taylor Greene

"...similarly to Marjorie Taylor Greene's statement about "Jewish space lasers""

First of all, this is factually inaccurate, as Greene never made a "statement" about "Jewish space lasers," she shared a Facebook post promoting conspiracy theories about the Rothschilds using space lasers to cause wildfires. While "Jewish space lasers" were how her comments were described in the media given the prominence of the Rothschilds in antisemitic conspiracy theories, the post she shared never actually used this phrasing. The quote is therefore both misattributed and fabricated, as these words were never used in the statement being described and the statement was not made by her.

It also doesn't mention who Marjorie Taylor Greene is. While educated readers may know that she is a sitting Congresswoman, this sentence provides zero context as to who MTG is and why the fact that she has promoted similar conspiracy theories is relevant information.

I also don't see any discernible connection between Greene and Peters aside from the fact that they are both right-wing cranks. Both cited sources mention Greene's comments, but this feels like cherrypicking irrelevant information from the articles to make a jab at someone unrelated to Peters.

At the very least, the sentence needs to be restructured to be factually accurate and properly informative, perhaps something along the lines of "mirroring antisemitic conspiracy theories about Rothschild-owned space lasers promoted by US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene." At the very least, this would be more factually accurate.

The sentence about a doctor calling the patient the "most malnourished" he had ever seen was not quoting a doctor, it was the patient's lawyer that made the claim. The lawyer also stated the patient had improved significantly, less than a week before he died. The lawyer, Holsten, is not a reliable narrator.

Direct quote from the cited article: "The day of her podcast appearance, she found a lawyer, Marjorie Holsten, who immediately filed a motion for a restraining order to keep the hospital from taking Mr. Quiner off the ventilator.

Judge Jennifer Stanfield, of the Tenth Judicial District Court in Anoka County, granted the order. On Jan. 15, Mr. Quiner was flown to a hospital in Texas, where, Ms. Holsten said, his condition has improved significantly. She declined to identify the hospital.

Ms. Holsten said: “He was cognizant until they administered a ton of sedatives. That was when he was put on the ventilator.” Mr. Quiner had lost 30 pounds and was described as the “most malnourished patient” a doctor at the Texas hospital had ever seen, Ms. Holsten said."

In the Wikipedia article: The phrase "most malnourished patient" should not be in quotes or should be properly attributed to Ms. Holsten. Or changed to "The patient's lawyer claims a doctor at the Texas hospital stated the patient to be the most malnourished they had seen.

Isn't holocaust denying an subset of antisemitism anyway, which is already in the lead? I'm not sure we have the quality sources to make much of it (among the good sources you mention none focus on that aspect of his rhetoric), or that it's particularly notable - at best worth an addition on the relevant section. Antisemitism is already a hateful, murderous ideology, not sure how holocaust denial would bump it up into another category - the article on antisemitism barely mentions it (although holocaust denial has its own page). I disagree with it being redundant, but understand your view. Do you think it adds no value at all for the reader? Or is it a judgement call in your opinion?

The differences between antisemitism and holocaust denial is that the latter is significantly rarer than the former, often associated with extreme and violent antisemitism, and that it’s a crime in some countries, but I guess none of those are technically encyclopaedic reasons. Misleading wording

That May, he was banned by a Virginia hotel from speaking at a conference for veterans of the 1967 USS Liberty incident after StopAntisemitism, a pro-Israel organization, posted a flyer for the event that included Peters and antisemites Lucas Gage and Jake Shields. [41][42]

In none of the cited material does it refer to stop antisemitism as a pro-Israel organization. Adding that qualifier in comes off as trying to delegitimize concerns raised.

Also, they created one flyer online that was spread widely by people sharing.

Rewording Request

The sentence below is from the article. I request that the word "murders" be changed to the more accurate word "deaths." Peters was calling for the government to execute them, not individuals to go vigilante on them.

In the Online personality section, in the sentence "Peters is identified as the communications director of a militia movement headed by one Edward Lang, who is serving a prison sentence for assaulting a police officer during the January 6 United States Capitol attack." change "one Edward Lang" to "Jake Lang" and link to the article for Jake Lang. He is a notable online far-right figure with an existing page. He is typically referred to as Jake, on his socials and by the media (see his article). The source attached confirms that they are talking about Edward "Jake" Lang. The rest of the sentence perhaps should be reworked as well, as Lang is known for more than just the January 6 attack, including running for Senate and destroying a $6,000 anti-ICE sculpture.
