School at Christ's Hospital

[edit]

It is an undisputed fact that Hilton attended Christ's Hospital between 1980 and 1987, before going on to read PPE at New College in Oxford. See for example the NYT profile on 31 May 2026, or the Guardian's one for 2 March 2012

But this was edited out 28 May 2026 by an anonymous editor, and has not been replaced.

I think this is a more encyclopedic part of his biography than talk about his ice hockey-playing father. The present narrative for this early part of his biography is one of a miserable upbringing: "what he has described as a struggle and great financial hardship; his mother worked in a shoe store but was dependent primarily on state benefits, and the two lived in a cold, damp basement flat". But in fact the boarding school he attended between the ages of 11 and 17 was one of the UK's élite public schools, set in 1200 acres of Sussex countryside - see Thomas Peardew (talk) 09:20, 3 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Nominee

[edit]

@HistorianL Steve Hilton has the support of the California Republican Party, but he is not their nominee for governor because parties do not nominate candidates in California. All candidates appear on the same primary ballot, and the top-two vote-getters advance to the general election. Had Tom Steyer advanced instead of Hilton, the Democratic Party would not have two nominees. scoutguy138 21:29, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

parts of piece reads like campaign rhetoric instead of unbiased reporting

[edit]

Under the heading "2026 Cali Gubernatorial Election", text is campaign style claims and promises that are misleading and lack context. In other words, instead of the piece being a report describing what Mr. Hilton wants to achieve and what questions arise from his claims and promises, this is just a campaign speech, filled will all the misinformation and exaggeration one would expect from someone running for public office. ~2026-52507-42 (talk) 19:39, 28 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

I tagged the penultimate paragraph as POV and the final paragraph as promotional. They read like they are taken in part directly from campaign materials. ~2026-52455-45 (talk) 16:14, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

MDY dates and American Eng

[edit]

We should be using MDY and American English in this article in accordance with American politicians that were born the citizens of another country, such as Arnold Schwarzenegger. ~2026-46518-45 (talk) 05:42, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
