I assigned a high importance as "Butcher" Burbridge was a major figure in Kentucky during the Civil War. Stevie is the man! Talk Work 22:20, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Questionable source for claims of "baseless" executions

[edit]

Possibly source bias in the claim in the article, in the phrase "During Burbridge's rule in Kentucky, he directed the execution and imprisonment of numerous people, including public figures, on charges of treason and other high crimes, many of which were baseless.[2]". Bryan S. Bush not necessarily an unbiased source for this information.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.242.60.146 (talk) 02:20, 29 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Removal of published work

[edit]

I understand there may be dispute of material in the Bush book, but nevertheless, it was published in the usual way (not self-published) and written by a historian with citations throughout the text. I don't think we should have allowed a temporary editor to cast aspersions on the book incorrectly as they did. I understand another book had been released, so I hope there wasn't any quasi-promotion going on with the discounting of Bush's work. Stefen 𝕋owers among the rest! Parkwells I was looking through the edit history and saw where you say the Bush book is self-published. This has never been my understanding. Is there something definitive that backs that up? Stefen 𝕋owers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 02:54, 28 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
I also just did a Google query "is acclaim press a self publishing company" and it returns "No, Acclaim Press is not a self-publishing company". I would not have created an article based on a self-published book. Stefen 𝕋owers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 02:59, 28 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
