Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on November 29, 2025.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that Pokémon fans compared the design of Mega Starmie to a scene depicting Patrick Star with long legs and in fishnet leggings?

Inappropriate question

[edit]

Ummmm... I like Starmie. Staryu too. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 14:19, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia is not a forum, therefore, not a very appropriate place to ask such a question.--Atomic-Super-SuitWhat Have I Done?! 22:18, 3 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lead

[edit]
  • Infobox needs alt text
 Done

Concept and creation

[edit]
  • Both images need alt text
 Done
  • "Each Pokémon have one" should be "Each Pokémon has one"
 Done

Appearances

[edit]

In video games

[edit]
  • "included in Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon" change to "included in Pokémon Legends: Arceus or Pokémon"
 Done
  • "Pokémon Crystal" should be italicized
 Done
  • Notes A and B should be "Including their remakes" as both games were remade, not just one.
 Done
  • "other spin-off Pokémon video games, such as" should probably be "including" instead
 Done
  • Also the order seems random, could it be alphabetised or moved into release order?
 Done Changed to release order

In other media

[edit]
  • Clarify which season of the anime Misty had Starmie
Done The article doesn't explicitly mention a season, so I had to more lean into a timeframe
  • "Misty had trouble using her Starmie, often times losing with it; instead, she used it as a mode of transport" I think this should be two separate sentences
 Done Split
  • "First Prize For Starmie" should probably be in parenthesis
 Done Added

Critical reception

[edit]
  • Note D is unsourced
Done I didn't think that was strictly necessary as it used the same source that was used at the end of the sentence, but I have added it regardless. CaptainGalaxy 15:46, 27 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
  • Consider creating a subheading for discussing its role competitively
 Done Added
  • "with IGN describing Misty's Starmie as an absolute pain in the butt" I think this wording is pretty informal, it should either be turned into a quote or rephrased
 Done Rephrased
  • I think "In Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket," should be "In the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket,"
I don't think that's needed as the article never puts the in-front a game.
  • "The card would also appear in a community ran black market, where cards would be sold on websites such as eBay." I don't know about calling eBay a black market. I'd tweak the wording a bit
 Done Tweaked
  • Link "For the Win"
 Done
  • The last paragraph should probably be moved elsewhere, I think "Appearances" under "in other media"
Done I have moved it to the top of "Critical reception" and renamed it "Promotion and reception" per other GA Pokémon species articles.

Mega evolution

[edit]
  • Image needs alt text
 Done
  • "In a following article, Shepard admitted" this wording makes the article is a follow up to the previous article which from my understanding it isn't
 Done Changed
  • "subject of memes / shitposts" should be "subject of memes and shitposts", while similar they are distinct
 Done

References

[edit]
  • I'd run IA bot
The bot has had a lot of lag whenever I am online which causes it to crash. But I have already managed to run it twice on this article before and it only got about half the sources. I will try to archive the remained in my own time.
  • Why is "Magmix" a reliable source?
Magmix is a Japanese source that has been used multiple times in previous GA reviews as well as the Gen II Pokémon Featured List.
  • Why is "Real Sound" a reliable source?
Real Sound is considered a highly regarded Japanese source that has been used in multiple GA, FA and FL reviews.

Misc

[edit]
  • A few MOS:DASH violations but I took care of these myself

I should also add that since my implementations, I have added three more sources. CaptainGalaxy 19:33, 27 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
I did another check and couldn't find any other problems. Olliefant (she/her) 20:08, 27 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

  • ... that Starmie can use the DeathStar to be a "world class annoyer"?
Improved to Good Article status by Captain Galaxy (talk). Number of QPQs required: 1. Nominator has 8 past nominations.

CaptainGalaxy 21:26, 27 October 2025 (UTC).Reply

  • Recent GA. Article long enough with no copyvio, good referencing as expected from a GA, and Earwig says no copyvio. QPQ has been provided. I'd reject ALT0 for WP:DYKFICTION, but ALT1 and ALT2 are very interesting, cited inline, and verified in source. Prefer ALT1. Good to go. Juxlos (talk) 09:50, 28 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
    • I think that ALT1 has a potential issue in that it is misleading. The CIA did not develop "Starmie" (the Pokemon) as a hacking device, as I wondered about when reading it, but a program called Starmie. The article is not about the program the CIA developed. Actually, "developed" would not even be the right word because it's a vulnerability they used to penetrate systems; it was in the OS by default rather than created. It could probably be reworded to say something like "Starmie was used by the CIA as the namesake of a mobile device exploit" or something along those lines. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 16:33, 29 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
