Disambiguation redirect

[edit]

Why do we have Starman (disambiguation) redirect here? Shouldn't we do it the other way around so it's easy to tell that it's a disambig? Supernerd11 Firemind ^_^ Pokedex 14:03, 26 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

This is the normal way of doing things, and it saves a "redirected from" message on the page when people type in "Starman". I'm not sure how exactly would people benefit from your suggestion, perhaps you could elaborate? Siuenti (talk) 13:09, 9 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
If that's how the standard is, that's fine; I just wasn't sure who would type in "Starman (disambiguation)" rather than just "Starman". Supernerd11 Firemind ^_^ Pokedex 17:28, 4 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Supernerd11: The reason why Starman (disambiguation) should be created as a redirect page to disambiguation page Starman is this: "Links to disambiguation pages from mainspace are typically errors. In order to find and fix those errors, disambiguators generate a wide array of reports of links needing to be checked and fixed. Because these reports can not distinguish instances where an editor has made such a link with the intent to point to the disambiguation page, the community has adopted the procedure of rerouting all intentional disambiguation links in mainspace through "Foo (disambiguation)" redirects. This makes it clear that such links are intended to point to the disambiguation page." For more information, see Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Links to disambiguation pages. --Neo-Jay (talk) 07:39, 27 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Ah, okay. That makes sense then, thanks. Supernerd11 Firemind ^_^ Pokedex 19:32, 27 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Currently rising in prominence, "Starman (Will Payton)" should be added to this page.
