Support - This is undoubtedly the primary usage of the name. It is the original Staplehurst and is 22x the size of the second Staplehurst. It is also well-known in history as the city in which Charles Dickens was involved in a railway crash. Parable1991 (talk) 05:10, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Village or town?

The article has called it a village for most of its existence, but this has since been changed to town, back to village, and back to town.

Googling for the two words "Staplehurst town" (not in quotes, ie not necessarily adjacent", finds three articles which call it a town, eg this, and n-3 which call it a village including neighbourhood plan, local media, tourist info etc. Is there any evidence that it's a town?
