major and minor radii

Independently, what can and the major radius is the geometric average between square and circle

- I won't look closely at the article until later, but the natural meaning would be the distance between the center and the closest and most distant points on the curve. "Semimajor and semiminor axis" are terms which have a unique defvinition for an ellipse, but would not for a squircle. AnonMoos (talk) 07:29, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
Periodic squircle

Can this be generalized to any polygon?
[edit]I'm wondering why this shape is restricted to a square. For the periodic form, could it be generalized to some other period to make, say, a triangle (triancle?). I'm playing with it in Desmos and haven't been successful. ~Anachronist (talk) 22:49, 22 October 2024 (UTC)

Statement about apple icons not supported by reference

Linearization formula for FG
[edit]The formula to change s_L to s with s in [O,1] is wrong. I tested it. In order not to get a negative radicand, you must choose an s >= 3.414, obviously not in the range. I fixed it and an arrogant quack changed it back. If you want to put BS up here for everyone to see, be my guest. For those truly interested, look at the source and do the math yourself. - Log in before you post. The account who made that change is not the same as the account who wrote the comment above.
- I've tested it too, and it did what I expected, move the corner of the squircle to the expected position between the circle and the square. We don't misrepresent what cited sources say. - Aha, I see now. I had tested the formula in the cited paper, but the formula in the article has a typo. The paper had the term (2-2sqrt(2)) in the numerator and this article had (2-sqrt(2)). I changed it to 2(1-sqrt(2)).
- Now the formula in the article matches the cited source.
- Your change also drastically modified the denominator, and that was the basis of my reversion of your change. I hadn't noticed the typo in the numerator with the missing 2. ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 16:10, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
