1. I have hardly been to a city in the world where these guys aren't operative.
2. Some of them do actually wash your windows.

I am altering this page correspondingly. It is currently needlessly offensive (and therefore not objective)

In Australia the practice of window washing for money is illegal I find this very hard to believe. Are there no window cleaners in Australia? Or are they all paid by the state? — KayEss | talk 15:42, 12 July 2005 (UTC)

Yes, there are window washers here in Australia and they are tolerated. They are, however, very uncommon. I am unsure of whether or not it is in fact illegal, though. Here in Melbourne, Australia, I am only aware of one intersection where they operate - the corner of Punt Road (Hoddle Street) and Victoria Street, in Richmond.Davez621 13:51, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Punk rock?

What does this article have to do with punk rock music? These squeegee people are apparently referred to as "punks" in some areas but I don't think that has anything to do with punk rock music. And even if some of them do listen to punk rock music we don't know that they all do, and that still isn't a good enough reason to group this article in with punk rock music. I don't buy it. 6 years without any words about punk rock or how it's a part of the subculture? I'm removing the Wikiproject from this talk page. (For posterity, it was {{Wikiproject Punk|class=start|importance=mid}}) If we want to make the case that it's got anything to do with punk rock, let's add a section and cite a source. It was Mayor Dinkins, not Mayor Giuliani, who got rid of the squeegee men in NYC

Actually it looks like the wrong tag is used. There's a lot of OR and unverified claims in that section, the only references are to what Giuliani did, but the bits about the MO of the Squeegee Men are unreferenced and maybe that was what was perceived as the bias that led to the NPOV tag?
