I was digging the SoCal jazz scene in the '50's and never heard Lyle Murphy being referred to as Spud until much later. The Four Saxophones in Twelve Tones album for which I just created an article lists him as Lyle Murphy on its cover. I'm really not sure why his article's title is Spud Murphy. I would move it to Lyle Murphy in an instant, except it might stir up a big Wiki-controversy. What does anyone else think? DutchmanInDisguise (talk) 19:21, 16 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Well, he's in the Grove Dictionary of Jazz as "Spud", but that's only one dictionary, and the bibliography lists four others (including two of Leonard Feather's books). Might be worth checking those out to see what they say. Chubbles (talk) 23:01, 16 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
