I was tempted to see how long the joke section I created could stay on an article concerning a smallish New York town. However I got to feeling guilty and would rather not have to check it every few days to see when/if anyone would notice.--T. Anthony 14:53, 30 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

A very rural area with the advantages of having the Glimmerglass Opera House and being close to Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame. The people who live in this area are exceptionally nice and there are some beautiful homes tucked away on back roads throughout the area. Amish are moving into the general area.

The Springfield area is also rich in genealogical significance with old Dutch and English names dating from the late 1600s. The James Fenimore Cooper house has a library of much of the area's history as well as the Cooperstown library.
