Cognate?
[edit]@Mattjuge: I assume you mean they are not cognates because spouse comes from sponsus? In that case, we should say so explicitly rather than elliptically ("related but not cognates"). Srnec (talk) 14:59, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Srnec "Spouse" is a borrowing of "sponsus" so by definition they are not cognates. Yes, a direct statement would be better Mattjuge (talk) 19:57, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
