article for this animal already exists

[edit]

i have found sources stating that Spirorbis spirorbis and Spirorbis borealis are both names commonly used for the same animal Spirorbis (Spirorbis) spirorbis (Linnaeus 1758). the commonly accepted name for this animal appears to be Spirorbis spirorbis, for which a more detailed article already exists on here.

WoRMS - World Register of Marine Species - Spirorbis (Spirorbis) spirorbis (Linnaeus, 1758)

i have never edited wikipedia before and this would be a pretty huge edit and i don't know what to do about it BeefLovesOctopus (talk) 18:47, 21 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question: Are you sure it's the same animal? Spirorbis spirorbis and Spirorbis borealis both seem like different species. — BerryForPerpetuity (talk) 16:23, 22 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Done Sweeping in about two weeks later from what I suspect is OP's Tumblr, I've implemented a preliminary merge per OP's WoRMS citations of the accepted name[1] and to the "deprecated" one.[2] Also, totally understand the trepidation on merging two pages; the step-by-step instructions are at WP:MERGETEXT if you're ever interested. Noting for posterity: merge undone by Atlas Þə Biologist. Found no explanation on any talk page or in the edit summaries. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 04:03, 27 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Merge restored. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 15:41, 27 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
