Explanation for revert
[edit source]Oops, my latest revert was completed without a full Edit Summary. Here is what I was going to say: "Since the sentence is 'the most prominent puzzle in this category [...]', I think it would be more coherent for the answer the 'common' Rubik's Cube, i.e. the 3x3x3 one. The generic cube puzzle is also okay, though the former meaning is much more common than the latter. (And since the article's title is literally 'speedcubing', putting 'cube' in there doesn't really answer anything, at least with the sentence structure here.)" Use of the word "algorithm"
[edit source]I'm not sure where to incorporate it into the article, but what speedcubers refer to as an "algorithm" is distinct from the mathematical definition in that algorithms in cubing never contain branching paths; they are just a sequence of turns. Aprzn (talk) 18:40, 2 April 2025 (UTC)
- The term algorithm can refer to any sequence of instructions (within bounds), not necessarily using conditional branching (see Algorithm). Therefore I don't think the clarification is necessary, since the usage of "algorithm" in cubing seems valid. 206.211.154.14 (talk) 22:54, 9 September 2025 (UTC)
