Cystic Fibrosis

[edit]

Spectinomycin may have a use in CF since its effect of reducing mRNA translation fidelity causes some CFTR to be translated in spite of the presence of premature stop codons by mutation in the CFTR gene. The read through of the Stop codon produces at least some CFTR, albeit with reduced function. I don't have a source to include this in the page. Hamdev (talk) 11:07, 8 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Operon length

[edit]

"which is usually 2–10 amino acids long (this has been known to vary). " Presumably this is supposed to be 2-10 genes not amino acids. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins and an individual protein could be measured in amino acids. Additionally, 2-10 amino acids would be too short for a protein, anyhow. 170.140.241.226 (talk) 15:52, 7 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
