I came to this page hoping to learn about the phonology. I know little about this language. I gather that the phonology is really complex to describe. May I suggest populating a phonology chart with the phonemes listed at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/Quechua at least to have the beginning of a section there? This page and its parent Quechua languages lack phonology sections. Hopefully someone who knows the dialectology and allophony will be able to fill in the details. Speaking of dialectology, the IPA page linked to above accounts for 5 varieties of Quechua. I can appreciate that organizing all that into a coherent phonology section is no trivial task. I just wanted to look up how to pronounce Los Kjarkas and maybe contribute the IPA of it. /kʰarkas/? /qʰarkas/? /χarkas/? According to Quechua_alphabet, ⟨j〉is used in Bolivia where Los Kjarkas are from. Which variety of Quechua is theirs? Johanna-Hypatia (talk) 12:13, 22 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
