why is there a german map
[edit]look at the economy section, oil part, "Oil and gas concessions in Sudan - 2004"
why is the map in german is my main concern, shouldnt it be in the german wikipedia article for it or is there no english one? Theapplesguy2 (talk) 18:39, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
- The map is used across 21 language Wikipedias, not just de.wiki and here. It is likely there is no English one, although the map is in public domain if anyone wants to make one. CMD (talk) 01:18, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

Food insecurity
[edit]I am working on the section Food insecurity. I realise that it will be a rather large section. So far, I have covered five years. I consider making this into its own article, so the text in this article can be a summary of that new article. What do you all think? Lova Falk (talk) 07:26, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
- Seems a notable standalone topic. CMD (talk) 07:30, 30 December 2025 (UTC)

- The page currently has around 11,000 words, per WP:SIZERULE this puts it in the range of "Probably should be divided or trimmed, though the scope of a topic can sometimes justify the added reading material." and I am someone of the mind that if a new page could be spun off then it should be spun off. Still thinking about this. Another option would be to expand the article 2017 South Sudan famine, because a lot of the information in that article (such as causes) is also valid for the broader article Food insecurity in South Sudan - so would it maybe be better to expand 2017 South Sudan famine, instead of having two articles about the same? (I will also ask on the talk page of the famine article.) Ping CMD and DervotNum4, what do you think? Lova Falk (talk) 12:50, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- I find when writing that whether something belongs on the main page or a subpage only becomes clear as I'm putting things together. You can expand the 2017 page and split from there, or build a new draft and later move part of that to 2017. CMD (talk) 13:18, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
- I have now expanded 2017 South Sudan famine into Food insecurity and famine in South Sudan, because the famine was part of a broader and ongoing food insecurity crisis, rather than a distinct or isolated event. I have also shortened the section "Food insecurity and famine" in this article, because it was really way too long. Lova Falk (talk) 07:36, 16 February 2026 (UTC)

I found the text above, that was invisible, at the end of the section 2025 Tensions. I add it here, in case anybody feels it would be a good idea to start an alphabetical list of South-Sudanese villages. Personally, I doubt this would be DUE, but here it is.
