Where is this article going?

It is not clear to me exactly what this article is about. If it just another name for Oceania, then a redirect might be more appropriate though I see there is already a disambiguation page South Sea. If it is going to be about the romantic (for want of a better word) view of the region as portrayed in literature and art, then that should be made clear in the lead.
