Issue city. Sound Baffles are not used to reduce acoustic level, soundproofing is. Baffles are used to alter acoustic characteristics *within* the room by changing characteristics of the surfaces within the room. It's a bit like comparing blackout curtains with stained glass mirrors.

This is done with differing materials. Open cell foam absorbs high end frequencies, causing the reverberation of said high end within the room to dull. Heavy stonewool does the opposite, and diffusion panels like the one in the picture increase reverberation but diffuse away direct echoes, helping eliminate ghost notes, for example. 146.198.167.11 (talk) 14:57, 12 February 2018 (UTC)Reply


The picture used in this article ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_baffle#/media/File:Absorbing_panels,_Downtown_Recording.jpg ) shows the diffusing panel called Auralex T'Fusor. ( https://www.auralex.com/product/tfusor-3d-sound-diffusor/ ) This is a diffusing panel, not an absorbing panel.
