[edit]The article contains two citations, for the whole of it, supporting only a couple of awards/nominations and one acting appearance. This is the shoddiest sort of work. Date/place of birth, parents, schooling, career, filmography—essentially all of this is unsupported. This is worse than IMDB. At least there you know what you are getting is suspect. 2601:246:CA80:3CB5:3078:DC99:5B71:80B5 (talk) 16:13, 21 March 2019 (UTC)

Request to update career emphasis, writing/producing credits and awards — COI disclosure
[edit]Request to update career emphasis, writing/producing credits and awards — COI disclosure Hello. I am Sonja Bennett, the subject of this article, so I have a conflict of interest and am requesting that uninvolved editors review these proposed changes rather than editing the article directly myself. The article’s current career emphasis appears substantially out of date. The short description identifies me only as a “Canadian actress,” and the lead and career section remain heavily focused on my acting work. I began my career primarily as an actor, but after writing and starring in Preggoland I moved into television writing and producing, while continuing to act occasionally. My television writing and producing work over the past decade includes Kim’s Convenience, Ghost Wars, Letterkenny, The Murders, Hudson & Rex and Family Law. On Family Law, I was a consulting producer/writer in Season 1, supervising producer/writer in Seasons 2 and 3, and co-executive producer/writer in Season 4. I am currently a co-executive producer and writer on Private Eyes: West Coast and Season 3 of Murder in a Small Town. The Pacific Screenwriting Program’s 2026 mentor biography documents both the earlier writing credits and these current positions. I therefore request that editors consider the following changes: 1. Short description Change: Canadian actress (born 1980) to: Canadian screenwriter, television producer and actress (born 1980) 2. Infobox occupations Change the occupations to: • Screenwriter • • Television producer Actress 3. Lead I suggest replacing or rebalancing the current lead along the following lines: Sonja Bennett (born August 24, 1980) is a Canadian screenwriter, television producer and actress. She began her career primarily as an actress, appearing in films including Punch, Young People Fucking, Fido and 1Cole, and in television series including Godiva’s and Cold Squad. She later wrote and starred in the feature film Preggoland (2014), after which she moved into television writing and producing while continuing to act. Bennett’s television writing credits include Kim’s Convenience, Ghost Wars, Letterkenny, The Murders, Hudson & Rex and Family Law. On Family Law, she progressed from consulting producer to supervising producer and, in its fourth season, co-executive producer. She is currently a co-executive producer and writer on Private Eyes: West Coast and the third season of Murder in a Small Town. Her television screenwriting has received multiple Leo Awards. Bennett has also continued to act periodically. In 2026, she received a Leo Award nomination for Best Guest Performance in a Dramatic Series for her performance in the Allegiance episode “Do Not Harm.” I am not attached to this exact wording; my main request is that the lead reflect the substantial writing and producing career that followed my earlier acting career. 4. Add a “Writing and producing” subsection Suggested wording: Writing and producing Bennett wrote and starred in the feature film Preggoland (2014). She subsequently moved into television writing and producing, working as a writer and story editor on Kim’s Convenience and as a writer and consulting producer on Ghost Wars. She later wrote for Letterkenny, The Murders, Hudson & Rex and Family Law. On Family Law, Bennett served as consulting producer and writer in its first season, supervising producer and writer in its second and third seasons, and co-executive producer and writer in its fourth season. Bennett subsequently became a co-executive producer and writer on Murder in a Small Town and Private Eyes: West Coast. In 2026, the Pacific Screenwriting Program identified her as a current co-executive producer and writer on Private Eyes: West Coast and Season 3 of Murder in a Small Town. Her television screenwriting has received multiple Leo Awards, including awards for Kim’s Convenience, Letterkenny and Family Law, as well as Writers Guild of Canada Screenwriting Award nominations. 5. Update Awards and nominations The article’s awards section currently ends in 2010 and omits subsequent acting and screenwriting recognition. I would appreciate an editor updating it. Significant post-2010 awards and nominations include: • • • 2011 — Genie Awards: nomination, Best Supporting Actress, Cole 2015 — Leo Awards: nominations for acting and screenwriting, Preggoland 2015 — Fargo Film Festival: winner, Best Screenplay, Preggoland 2• • • • • • • • • • • 2017 — Leo Awards: winner, Best Screenwriting in a Music, Comedy or Variety Program or Series, Kim’s Convenience 2018 — Leo Awards: winner, Best Supporting Performance by a Female in a Motion Picture, Kayak to Klemtu 2019 — Leo Awards: winner, Best Screenwriting in a Music, Comedy or Variety Program or Series, Letterkenny 2019 — Writers Guild of Canada Screenwriting Awards: nomination, TV Comedy, Letterkenny — “A Letterkenny Christmas: The Three Wise Men” 2021 — Leo Awards: winner, Best Screenwriting in a Music, Comedy or Variety Program or Series, Letterkenny 2022 — Leo Awards: nomination, Best Screenwriting in a Dramatic Series, Family Law — “Mama Don’t Preach” (with Corey Liu) 2022 — Writers Guild of Canada Screenwriting Awards: nomination, Drama Series, Family Law 2023 — Leo Awards: winner, Best Screenwriting in a Dramatic Series, Family Law — “Return to Sender” 2024 — Leo Awards: winner, Best Screenwriting in a Music, Comedy or Variety Program or Series, Letterkenny — “Over and Out” 2024 — Leo Awards: nomination, Best Screenwriting in a Dramatic Series, Family Law — “To the End of Love” 2026 — Leo Awards: nomination, Best Guest Performance in a Dramatic Series, Allegiance — “Do Not Harm” Sources Useful sources for verifying these requested changes include: • • • • • • Pacific Screenwriting Program, “Scripted Series Lab Mentors 2026” (March 16, 2026) — lists television writing credits and identifies Bennett as a current co-executive producer and writer on Private Eyes: West Coast and Season 3 of Murder in a Small Town. Leo Awards official archives and 2026 nominees/winners listings — documents screenwriting awards and the 2026 Allegiance guest-performance nomination. Writers Guild of Canada — profiles and Screenwriting Awards finalist announcements documenting television writing/producing credits and WGC nominations. 2015 Leo Awards official nominees/winners listing — documents the Preggoland screenwriting nomination. Fargo Film Festival — documents the Best Screenplay award for Preggoland. Other reliable published sources already cited in the article document Bennett’s earlier acting career. I recognize that editors may prefer different wording or may wish to add only changes they consider sufficiently supported under Wikipedia’s sourcing policies. My main concern is that the current article gives disproportionate weight to my earlier acting career while largely omitting approximately a decade of subsequent television writing and producing work. Thank you for reviewing the request. ~2026-43689-72 (talk) 02:07, 8 August 2026 (UTC)

Hello. I am Sonja Bennett, the subject of this article, so I have a conflict of interest and will not edit the article directly. I’m requesting that an independent editor review the following updates.
The article currently presents me primarily as an actor, although for approximately the past decade my principal professional work has been as a screenwriter and television producer. I’m requesting that the lead and career section be updated to reflect that shift.
A possible revised opening sentence would be:
“Sonja Bennett is a Canadian screenwriter, television producer, playwright and actor.”
Suggested career updates:
• Bennett wrote and produced for several Canadian television series, including Kim’s Convenience, Letterkenny, Ghost Wars, Hudson & Rex and Family Law.
• She served as a co-executive producer and writer on Private Eyes: West Coast and the third season of Murder in a Small Town.
• She served as a co-executive producer on the fourth and final season of Family Law, after previously working on the series as a consulting producer, supervising producer and writer.
• Her screenwriting awards include Leo Awards for Kim’s Convenience in 2017, Letterkenny in 2019, 2021 and 2024, and Family Law in 2022.
• In 2026, she received a Leo Award nomination for her guest performance in the television series Allegiance.
The article’s personal-life information also appears to be outdated. It currently states that I am married to actor Stephen Lobo. We divorced in 2018, so I’m requesting that this be changed to past tense or removed if an appropriate published source cannot be found.
My newly updated official website provides a current biography and detailed professional filmography:
https://www.sonjabennett.ca/filmography/
I understand that an official website is a primary source and may not be sufficient for every proposed change. I’m providing it as confirmation of routine professional information and would be grateful if an independent editor could determine which changes can be supported by reliable published sources.
Thank you for reviewing this request.
