First broadcast

Coming to an end
[edit]I heard it said on BBC Radio 4 that this programme is coming to an end in Spring of 2019. If anyone can find a reliable source for this, it can be added to the article.Vorbee (talk) 18:56, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
This programme is still on

Interruption
[edit]I'm absolutely certain that at one stage, many years before 2019, either Something Understood itself went on hiatus, or (more likely) Mark Tully ceased to present it, though he later returned to the programme. This would have been announced on the air, of course (I think I even remember the word "retirement" being used), but I don't know where any surviving evidence might turn up – perhaps somewhere in the broadcasting pages of The Times or The Daily Telegraph. Removed from schedule
[edit]From the BBC Radio 4 schedule, it seems that the programme has been dropped. The final broadcast was on Easter Sunday, 31st March 2024, a repeat of the last original episode made by Sir Mark Tully in 2019. The programme website shows no upcoming broadcasts.
