COI disclosure: I am the founder of BingWow Research and the author of the source cited below (see my user page). I'm using this template rather than editing the article directly because of that conflict of interest.
Proposed addition — append one sentence at the end of the paragraph in the Social viewing experience section (the section currently consists of a single paragraph and ends with "...a limitation that could be improved upon is the synchronization between users, as a mismatch in position of media may [reduce the shared experience].").
The proposed sentence to append:
A 2026 audit of ten major watch party platforms found that all nine actively maintained services offered synchronized playback and text chat, but none provided structured interactive engagement mechanics within the watch party experience itself, such as polls, predictions, or content-tied participation activities.[1]
Rationale. The article carries an "out of date" maintenance banner from July 2022, and the "Social viewing experience" section currently describes what social viewing platforms enable (live chat, synchronized playback) but offers no comparative coverage of which features are and aren't standard across the category. The proposed sentence fills that specific gap with a verifiable feature-audit observation. The factual claim — that the major actively maintained watch party services (Teleparty, Watch2Gether, Scener, Rave, Kosmi, Vemos, Hulu Watch Party, Amazon Prime Video Watch Party, Disney+ GroupWatch) provide synchronized playback and chat but not structured interactive engagement mechanics — is directly verifiable on the platforms themselves. The cited report's specific framings are "9 of 9 watch party platforms offer synchronized playback and text chat" and "0 of 9 watch party platforms offer interactive engagement features."
On source quality. BingWow Research is an industry research publisher, not a peer-reviewed academic venue. I'd note that (a) the underlying claim is a feature-level audit verifiable by inspection of the listed platforms rather than statistical inference, (b) the report has named authorship, publication date, and methodology (Google Trends API via SerpAPI, January 2019 to April 2026, plus direct platform testing in April 2026 against 10 criteria), and (c) I welcome substitution of a stronger source if a reviewer knows of one covering the same observation. If the reviewing editor concludes the BingWow citation is unsuitable but the observation itself is article-improving, I'm fully open to the sentence being added with a different source or no citation at all (for a feature-comparison claim verifiable on the platforms).
