Suggested clarification of follower-based engagement rate

[edit]

Disclosure: I am affiliated with LikeWave as [your role or relationship]. I am submitting this as an edit request so that an independent editor can review the proposed source and wording.

I suggest adding the following paragraph after the engagement-rate formula:

Follower-based engagement measurements should not necessarily be interpreted as the percentage of followers who interacted, because public posts may also receive interactions from non-followers. In an August 2026 analysis of 137 public Instagram accounts, LikeWave reported a median follower-based like rate of 1.58%, but described the dataset as a non-random convenience sample and noted that the calculation did not use post reach as its denominator.[1]

This would give readers a concrete Instagram example while retaining the study’s sampling and measurement limitations.
