And in here you should be able to find the costs spent on running the administration

Some inaccurate history, under "Leaders"

I was looking for something else, and noticed the short section that supposedly shows the "Chairmen of Social Security Board". But the Social Security Board only existed until 1946.

And then ... "The Social Security Administration (SSA) came into being on July 16, 1946. Prior to this time, the Social Security program was administered by a three-person Social Security Board. The Board was abolished in a government reorganization and replaced by the SSA, with a single Commissioner as its head."

So there should only be two names as Chairmen of SSB, then a rather long list of Commissioners, if it's useful repeating all that info here, which I doubt. I don't have time right now to clean this up. Will come back later and see what it will take. NameIsRon (talk) 15:12, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Coverage

The "Coverage" section states in part that "SSA's coverage under the Social Security Acts originally extended to nearly all workers. . . ." While that is the rule today, it wasn't "originally." The original Social Security Act did not cover agricultural workers, the self-employed, Federal employees, members of the armed forces, State and local government employees, railroad employees, domestics, physicians, and probably others. Coverage was gradually extended to these categories over the years, sometimes under unique provisions (such as Section 218 for some State and local employees, which the article discusses). The SS bureaucracy for many years included many specialists on who was and was not "covered" by the Act, because that was not a simple matter to figure out.
