Smooth Manifold

[edit]

Apparently, based on several "bad" links, there was an article on smooth manifolds. It no longer exists (as of May 10, 2014) and redirection occurs to the article "differential manifolds" which is NOT the same thing. I am editing this to (try to) clarify that point.216.96.76.198 (talk) 16:17, 10 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

"Smooth manifold" is a special case of "differentiable manifold" (differentiable at every order). The article differentiable manifold contains an explicit definition of smooth manifolds and mention them in the lead. Therefore, the redirect of smooth manifold to differentiable manifold is correct. Therefore I have reverted your edit. However, in several places "smooth" were presented as a synonymous of "continuously differentiable", which is wrong. I have fixed this in continuously differentiable and in the lead of differentiable manifold. D.Lazard (talk) 17:47, 10 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
