Thereference to Hillary Clinton using the phrase during confirmation hearings has the year wrong. It was January 2009

Assessment for WP:WikiProject Barack Obama

[edit]

Due to Clinton's use of the term as presumptive Secretary of State I've tagged the article as relevant to WP:OBAMA, but I've left the importance as Low for now.

I've rated this article as C-class - it still needs considerable elaboration, including summary descriptions of "hard" and "soft" power in WP:summary style, a better idea of who is promoting the term, and a broader global perspective. It is too soon to ask for the article to be comprehensive, but I find sources such as a book "Soft Power" associated with the Cato Institute, and application of the term to other countries such as Turkey, which suggest that a broader focus is needed.
