slender series navbox?
[edit]I guess we need to make a navbox about Slender series. It could feature main games (Slender:The Eight Pages, Slender:The Arrival), and spin offs (Haunt, Slender:Source) 46.151.137.101 (talk) 11:51, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
- Well, we did have Template:Slender before it was deleted at TfD. (discussion here) ZappaOMati 14:39, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
Someone really needs to sort out the poor writing on this page. The "plot" section is not the place for a semi-walkthrough, and some of the English is terrible. 79.74.88.27 (talk) 02:26, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

[edit]- Infobox
- Microsoft Windows should be Windows.
- Why? Most other VG articles use the term Microsoft Windows, and it's the name of the article itself.1timeuse75 (talk) 14:12, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- Per the template docs: "Always use Windows instead of Microsoft Windows." It is the common name and I could swear this is an establish practice, although I can't find the relevant MOS line. IceWelder [✉] 19:07, 29 May 2026 (UTC)

- It occasionally says "remastered"/"Remastered" instead of "remaster". If "Remastered" is not part of the name, "remaster" should be used instead. Or is it a remake?
Done
- Midnight City is tucked away in a note as being the console publisher, but I don't think this is correct. The Steam release was also originally published by Midnight City, whereas all later console releases (2015 and on) appear to have been published by Blue Isle instead. Consider moving Midnight City to the infobox and Blue Isle into the note instead, mentioning more clearly which platforms it published the game for, as well as the remaster/remake.
Done
- The note now suggests Midnight City didn't publish the PS3/X360 verisons although they did. I did not word this neatly, sorry! IceWelder [✉] 19:07, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- The platform list contains "macOS" but the releases list says "OS X". Given the release date, it should be the latter in both cases.
Done
- OS X and Windows should be ordered alphabetically.
- Use the platform names instead of "Mobile".
Done
- Is the VR version a separate game? If so, it should probably not be listed here.
Done
- The release list is quite long; consider using a {{collapsible list}}.
Done
- Any other credits that should be mentioned?
- Lead
- "survival horror video game" may be trimmed to "survival horror game" as the genre is unambiguous.
Done
- "a sequel to Parsec's Slender: The Eight Pages (2012), and incorporates" – incorrect Oxford comma should be removed.
Done
- "who ventures on the woods" → "into the woods"?
Done
- "to unravel the mystery about" → "to investigate"?
Done
- Alongside the plot, the gameplay should be very briefly described as well.
Done
- "with Joseph DeLage, Tim Sutton, and Troy Wagner" – These names don't appear again in the lead. Are they relevant to mention here?
- Not sure what you mean here. They wrote the game, that's why they are in the lead
- I asked because they take up a sizable chunk of the lead, whereas Tintor, Frank, and Hadley aren't mentioned at all. It could be shortened to "The Marble Hornets creators Joseph DeLage, Tim Sutton, and Troy Wagner helped write the script." with other roles (including Kndusen's) mentioned immediately before, so it's all in one cohesive location. IceWelder [✉] 21:54, 30 May 2026 (UTC)

- Not sure what you mean here. They wrote the game, that's why they are in the lead
- "who helped write the script for the initial release" – This suggests the script was latter rewritten. Please clarify.
Done
- Windows and OS X per above.
Done
- The platform+year sentence is incredibly long. Is it necessary to mention all these combinations here?
Done
- 10th anniversary remaster – compound adjective should be hyphenated
Done
- For consistency, console names should still carry a "the".
Done
- The infobox said the remake cam to OS X but it does not here.
Done
- "in May 2025, but were delayed until later that year" – it is currently 2026, so this seems out of date.
Done
- Is it S: The Lost Chapters or S: Lost Chapters?
- Steam and most media say S: Lost Chapters, while Blue Isle Studios says S: The Lost Chapters.
- Without the "The" is probably correct. The logo on Blue Isle's blog says the same, as does the article body. IceWelder [✉] 19:07, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- Steam and most media say S: Lost Chapters, while Blue Isle Studios says S: The Lost Chapters.
- Gameplay
- The screenshot is very difficult to see because the actual view is quite small and the enemy therein even smaller
- Change to a screenshot from PC Gamer
- I'm not sure how relevant the comparison to The Eight Pages is here since the Development section should already mention this being a remake.
Done
- This section seems somewhat out of order. It describes the setting, then the player equipment, then the enemy behaviour, all before mentioning what the player does in principle (exploration, etc.) or how they engage with enemies.
Done
- The only other mention of the flashlight appears a whole paragraph after the first one. Is there no other use for it?
Done
- "the UI begins to distort" – Just the UI or the whole image? The subsequent text suggests the latter.
Done
- "These effects remain until the player is facing away from the Slender Man." – This is implied and can be removed.
Done
- Is the design of the game over screen relevant?
- "Easy mode features infinite flashlight battery" – So it can otherwise deplete? What do you do when it does?
Done
- Running/sprinting wasn't mentioned before either.
- and the enemies are not as aggressive – and less aggressive enemies
Done- What exactly does this mean? Do they refrain from attacking?
- "In hardcore mode, the flashlight's battery can deplete" – Aha, but now what about the normal difficulty?
- What do you mean by "Aha" in this contexts? Other than the IGN wiki, the machines in easy and normal are not really mention in any reliable sources
- Aha as in me discovering that the battery can deplete but only hardcore mode. If it doesn't deplete in normal mode either, consider just removing the mention in connection with the easy mode, leaving its non-depletability implied. IceWelder [✉] 19:07, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- The section now only contains that there are three game modes and in hardcore mode the battery can deplete.
- What do you mean by "Aha" in this contexts? Other than the IGN wiki, the machines in easy and normal are not really mention in any reliable sources
- "An additional level is unlocked after the campaign is completed and acts as a remake of The Eight Pages, with Kate as the protagonist." → "A level unlocked after the campaign remakes The Eight Pages with Kate as the player character."
Done
- "it is unknown who the playable character is." – Is this important?
Done
- I would leave the mention of the remaster-specific level to the actual mention of that remaster, as it appears out of context here.
Done
Plot
- The plot goes into some very intricate details or wordy phrases that feel like they could be shortened. Purely stylistic elements should generally be excluded. Please review this section and focus on the most important aspects.
Done
- Characters
- This is highly uncommon for video game articles and feels especially unnecessary here since all relevant details are already included in the Plot section. I recommend removing this outright.
Done
- Development
- This section also covers the releases, so I recommend renaming it "Development and release".
Done
- That said, it almost exclusively covers the releases and there appears to be very little actual development info. For example, and perhaps most crucially, there is no information on the involvement Alex Tintor and Brenden Frank (Blue Isle) or Mark Hadley (Parsec). The engine isn't mentioned, nor are any kind of timings, techniques, design considerations, or management.
- Well, I'm gonna be blunt, there isn't any. After looking through every reliably sourced article about this game, that’s the most development info there is about it! I did add Alex Tintor and Brenden Frank names though.1timeuse75 (talk) 15:18, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- There should be an explicit mention of how the game relates to Slender Man, The Eight Pages, and the creators of each.
- ... it's a sequel to The Eight Pages? What more is there to say?
- I would have though a brief introduction to what Slender Man is, how The Eight Pages was developed by Parsec/Hadley as this loops baack into Hadley working on The Arrival, how The Eight Pages was freeware that The Arrival expanded into a commercial product, etc. IceWelder [✉] 19:07, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- Added some background to the section 1timeuse75 (talk) 08:23, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
- ... it's a sequel to The Eight Pages? What more is there to say?
- It being announced mere weeks after the previous game came out also seems noteworthy.
- Weirdly this info is not mention in any of the news articles.
- VG247 does say along those lines. IceWelder [✉] 19:07, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- Weirdly this info is not mention in any of the news articles.
- "In 2014, the developers announced that" – The section should be ordered somewhat chronologically. A 2014 announcement stated before the 2013 release suprises the reader.
Done
- "Blue Isle Studios cooperated with indie game publisher Midnight City to port the game to other platforms." – If not PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, what "other platforms" did Midnight City bring the game to?
Done
- I learned in the lead that Joseph DeLage, Tim Sutton, and Troy Wagner are those behind Marble Hornets, but this would not have been clear to me here. Please rephrase.
Done
- Is the exact timing of the announcement important? Seems like the cooperation had been going on before then.
Done
- Is Knudsen's forum alias relevant here?
- Prices usually aren't mentioned unless subject to some sort of commentary.
Done
- "Slender: The Arrival released" - active voice for a passive action. The publisher was Midnight City, per the attached source. Please rephrase.
- Changed to "was released"
- "Publisher Midnight City would release it" – would it or did it?
Done
- in September 24, 2014 → on September 24, 2014
Done
- Some dates from the infobox are missing their mentions here.
Done
- The announcement and release of the Android and iOS versions were within two weeks of each other. I don't think it is necessary to mention the announcement date explicitly in this. This wasn't done for the other dates either.
Done
- "It will utilize more mechanics" – What does this mean?
Done
- "Alongside the announcement ... July 27, 2023" – The date was mention mere two sentences ago, no need to repeat.
Done
- Should probably mention Perp Games as the publisher of the VR game?
Done
- Windows the operating system is being mixed in with VR peripherals, please revise for clarity.
Done
- Reception
- The image, unless subject to some form of direct commentary, likely runs afoul of WP:NFCC and should be removed.
- The second sentence seems to suggest a consensus but only cites the IGN. This should probably be dissolved and instead the reviewer's opinion with the rest instead.
Done
- This section relies heavily on direct quotes, which makes it rather difficult to read. If possible, similar thoughts should be grouped and paraphrased for a better flow. (WP:QUOTEFARM)
Done
- When employing indirect speech, make sure to use the right verb tenses.
Done
- Edwin Evans-Thirwell is mentioned explicitly, but all other reviewer names are excluded. Whether to name them or not is a design choice, but one that should be applied consistently.
Done
- Score, unless exceptional, are usually excluded from the prose.
Done
- The final sentence compiles opinions on the scaryness. This appears essential and should be among the first things in this section.
Done
- I feel like the negative reception of the early console versions is missing here.
Done
- Sales
- "has captivated millions of players" – This feels like it doesn't actually mean anything. I recommend removing this and merging the rest of the sub-section, which is a single sentence, into the reception.
Done
- References
- What makes Gaming.net and Game Space reliable sources?
Done
- IGN Wikis are user-generated and not reliable.
Done
- Some authors are missing.
Done
- Quotations are used inconsistently. Unless hard to verify, I argue they should be removed.
Done
- Other
- The IMDb link should be removed per WP:ELMINOFFICIAL.
Done
- Categorizes should be alphabetized.

Many statements, predominantly in the Gameplay section, fail verification. I skipped the Reception section due to time constraints and given the work still required there.
First-Pass Conclusion
[edit]@1timeuse75: Please find my initial review above. Unfortunately, it appears as though a lot of work still has to be put into this article to bring it up to GA standards. The foundations are there, so I don't want to fail the article upfront, but I'm placing the review
On hold for now. Regards, IceWelder [✉] 21:49, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
- @IceWelder Okay, with help from User:Maxeto0910, I think almost everything has been addressed. There are a few comments I’d like some clarification on, but other than that, this has been a fun GA review so far. I await for your second pass! Thanks! 1timeuse75 (talk) 18:09, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks to you both. Please see my replies above. I'll take another deep-dive tomorow! IceWelder [✉] 19:07, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
Second Pass
[edit]- Please see my responses to your questions above, as well as the points have not been addressed.
- The Unity engine remains unsourced.
Done
- I'm sifting through more information and I don't think the release info is correct just yet. Midnight City did release the game to Steam first but the initial release seems to have been on another platform some time before Midnight City was established. Where did this release occur? GOG? Their website? Sorry for the confusion in this regard, but is one of the most important aspects and should be nailed down when presented this visibly at the top of the article.
Done
- No Alex Tintor for the infobox? It says here and here that he was the creative director.
Done
- Sourcing in the Gameplay section is still spotty and there seems to be some WP:OR about. Some of the comments from the above table remain unaddressed. Most glaringly: The contents of the secret level unlocked through collecting posters is not detailed in either attached source, and "A level unlocked after the campaign remakes The Eight Pages." is only covered by a source that talks about the game's second chapter, which is indeed a remake of The Eight Pages.
Done
- The sentence on the first screenshots and the announcement are swapped; the announcement came first. Both events happened in September 2012.
- that is an odd way to word it.
Done
- that is an odd way to word it.
- Should link Midnight City.
Done
- "In October 2014, it was released through Steam" – Should be October 2013, right?
Done
- "In 2013, Slender: The Arrival was opened to the public for beta testing" – 2013 was also the year of release, perhaps mention the month as well?
Done
- "and that "[...] it can be" - Stray ellipsis?
- Indirect speech should use past tense.
Done (All credit should go to Maxeto0910)
- The section is somewhat inconsistent on whether it should use the name of the author or the outlet upon the second mention. I recommend the former, but it's ultimately a style decision. It should be consistent either way.
Done
- Some reviews in this section do not appear in the reviews table.
Done
- Vice-versa GameTrailers, CraveOnline, and GameFront only appear in the review table, which goes against its guidelines. If unused, they should be removed.
Done
- Apostrophe issues with spacing ({{'}}) or curly characters (MOS:CURLY) should be fixed.
- I've never had this issue before, how do i fix the "apostrophe spacing"? 1timeuse75 (talk) 10:12, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
- Dates are missing for refs #3, #7, #25, and #49; #49 also has no author and that for #17 is mangled.
- #49 is the reference for Metacritic. Can you clarify which one you are talking about? 1timeuse75 (talk) 09:41, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
IceWelder [✉] 21:54, 30 May 2026 (UTC)
@IceWelder Okay, finished second pass. As said above, I have two major questions. How do I fix apostrophe spacing? And which reference is #49? 1timeuse75 (talk) 10:45, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
- You can use {{'}} (or {{'s}}), which produces "The Arrival's" versus "The Arrival's". At the time of writing, ref #49 was GameTrailers, which seems to have since been removed. I see a lot has been edited since last time, so I will have another good look at the article tomorrow. IceWelder [✉] 21:23, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
- @1timeuse75 and Maxeto0910: Thank you for your efforts here. I have applied a few copyedits to improve flow, grammar, and wording. Please review whether this is to your liking. The only factual change was a line from the Plot section that read "the Matheson family were responsible for accidentally summoning the Slender Man to Oakside Park". I couldn't find this backed up in the texts in the game, so I removed this for now. Is this something you'd still like included? Other than that, I think the article is ready for promotion. IceWelder [✉] 18:27, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
- I mostly happy with your copyediting pass, maybe too many em dash? but i can live with it. Unless Maxeto0910 wants to comment, i think the article is ready too. IceWelder, Thanks for reviewing the article! 1timeuse75 (talk) 11:19, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
- I like emdashes, but obviously you are free to change this to your liking. But I think we can wrap this up.
Passed! IceWelder [✉] 11:57, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
