True, but isn't a single-atom transistor the limit period - it's not possible to make a transistor smaller than a single atom. Maybe by taking advantage of reversible inner electron orbital "holes" as was done (I think) in "transparent aluminum" (at least to X-rays)? Jimw338 (talk) 14:46, 23 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Transistor vs Relay

Wouldn't this be more accurately described as a relax, given that the position of the atom changes and thus changes the flow of electricity through? In contrast to, e.g., the work done by Fuechsle and coworkers published in Nature Nanotechnology in 2012 where the conductance is controlled by an electric field - as it is in a transistor?  Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.199.100.230 (talk) 13:33, 31 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
