Is the definition right?

The tetrahedron, octahedron, and icosahedron have vertex/edge "valencies" of 3, 4, 5 respectively. Yet they are all 3-dimensional. Is this a mistake - or have I missed something?

Also one can have a simplex in any dimension, not only polygons.

Simple Polyhedron?

Please provide further explanation. The sited reference and all others I have found except this one refer to simple polyhedra as being topologically equivalent to a sphere, and make no mention of adjacency to 3 edges or faces.
