Speedy deletion
[edit]I have nominated the article for speedy deletion, because it lacks the most basic information about Hooper. I think it is too short to even be a stub, and is of little or no context to the reader. Catinthedogs (talk) 11:51, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedy deleted as lacking sufficient context to identify its subject, because... (Has officiated in the Premier League so meets Wikipedia:GNG) --Add92 (talk) 11:53, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
Tottenham v Liverpool Section
[edit]Even though Hooper was the referee for this match, he was not on VAR. At the moment, the section that discusses the match heavily focuses on the offside decision by the linesman and then backed up by the VAR. I understand the controversy as the goal was incorrectly ruled out, but this error is technically with VAR/linesman rather than Hooper himself. Is it fair to include this information how it is covered on this page? Fats40boy11 (talk) 07:11, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
- PGMOL have admitted this decision was the fault of the officials on VAR and not Hooper, and this is backed up by sources. See "Tottenham 2-1 Liverpool:'VAR error undermined sporting integrity' - Reds"."Furious Liverpool call VAR errors 'unacceptable' and ponder action". as a couple of examples.
- I'm going to remove the information for now, but I am not against it being re-introduced if more comes out stating that Hooper was also at fault somehow. However, this decision is more of a mistake with VAR, and the content is more relevant elsewhere than here. If anyone disagrees with me then please discuss here on the talk page.
