Oppose. Shklow is derived from the Belarusian name of the city, while Shklov is the Russian name. Changing it this way is just another brick in the wall of the Russification of Belarus. The only correct name for the article is Škloŭ - that's how the name of the city is written in Belarusian Latin alphabet and it is the native and proper name. --Red Winged Duck (talk) 08:51, 6 August 2025 (UTC)

This argument is based on WP:RGW and does not address the issue of common name (mind you, Russian is also an official language, but this is irrelevant). Either way, WP:BELARUSIANNAMES is used when there is no common name and it follows BGN/PCGN romanization, so under no circumstances can we use "Škloŭ" as a title. Mellk, you are referring to WP:BELARUSIANNAMES, which is a proposal, not a convention. Additionally, it is a dormant proposal, so it cannot be used either. --Red Winged Duck (talk) 09:23, 6 August 2025 (UTC)

The de facto consensus is to use BGN/PCGN romanization and the other settlements use this as a result. There was at least a discussion on this. There is no such consensus to use łacinka. You still did not address the issue of WP:COMMONNAME. You have only indicated your personal preference and that is it. Mellk (talk) 09:34, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
