"Big Bang Theory" main characters' names...

...are Sheldon and Leonard. I'm wondering if the show creators picked those names as an homage to this sitcom pioneer -- since their show is actually very refreshing compared to oh so many formulaic and predictable and telegraphed sitcoms of the last 10 years or so. 199.214.26.82 (talk) 18:35, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

This article on Sheldon Leonard refers to his being credited with creating the spin off, followed by "...although the concept began on radio two decades earlier with Fibber McGee and Molly spinning off The Great Gildersleeve." The reverse is true. The Great Gildersleeve was a spin off of Fibber McGee and Molly.
