I think both would be appropriate -- he's from Chaozhou originally, but has also given much cash to Shantou for their university. - Fuzheado 02:54, 1 August 2003 (UTC)

Caiwen

Who is Caiwen? Is he a famous a person at all? Is it a trick that he played in order to made himself famous? And what's his research? Extenics?What's that? I searched that keyword on google and ieeexplorer and other scientific databases globally known and it seems there's not a single match? I delete him because there're certainly more famous people in Shantou and Chenghai who is not recognized. Why should we recognize some one that seems so much in question?- Puekai 19:37, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Metropolitan area - original research?

I'm pretty sure that the opening paragraph is original research regarding the built up/metro area. It doesn't seem to agree with other lists on wikipedia here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urban_areas_in_China) or here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_in_China_by_population). In addition, this level of detail about population should not be in the first paragraph of the description of a city. The same is true for the section titled "Metro Area" under demographics.
