Organisation

The material on this topic could possibly do with some reorganisation. I came here from the economics project because there was a cinematographic article ‘production sets’ which was badly named and clashed with production set. I renamed it to Set (film and TV scenery). You can decide for yourselves whether this was a good choice. I subsequently found that there was a redirect page for ‘film set’ which pointed to a section in ‘Set construction’. I modified it to point to ‘Set (film and TV scenery)’. It seems odd to me not to cover the construction of the different kinds of set in the articles devoted to the sets themselves. But there are terminological problems owing to the fact that film and TV often belong together but have no agreed umbrella term, and that they and theatre sometimes belong together. What is set?

The word "set" is very ambiguous, so I thought that I would find the definition of "set" in filmmaking. Instead I found "set construction" and still not quite sure what "set" is. Is it simply a constructed artificial filming location? 85.193.228.103 (talk) 22:46, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

I’m not sure whether you’re pointing out that the article on ‘set construction’ doesn’t link to Set (film and TV scenery) (which is a valid point which I’ve tried to fix) or that the article on Set (film and TV scenery) doesn’t say very much (which I can’t do anything about). The term ‘set’ does of course have dozens of meanings, but it also has a satisfactory disambiguation page. Colin.champion (talk) 08:19, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
