First Creation

[edit]

I have attempted to provide a quality article. Some pin out diagrams would be nice or perhaps a simple picture of a cable. I should get around to adding that. But this is the first part of the article and learning Wikisyntax as I go along. BlackWolf 06:26, August 25, 2005 (UTC)

Length Limitations?

[edit]

Anyone know what the limitations are on cable length?

By Standard, 25 feet, but a shielded, low capacatance cable in a low noise environment can reach 50 feet.

Depends a lot on bandwidth. They say half the baud rate, double the cable length Towel401 (talk) 20:59, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Serial vs RS-232

[edit]

Serial cable would include a Cat-5 Ethernet cable (Ethernet being a serial as opposed to a parallel protocol). Much of the details on this page are RS-232 specific; that needs to be somehow identified. Zzybaloobah (talk) 20:39, 7 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
