== General Edits ==

• Many of the sources are outdated. I will replace these citations with more current articles and adjust the sentences with the new information accordingly.
• Many sentences throughout are missing citations. I will add citations to these sentences and link the information in these sentences to the appropriate sources.

• Will clean up langauge and grammar in the causes section.
• Will remove some content regarding treatments and definitions from this section as it is not relevant here.

== Pathophysiology ==

• Will verify information regarding both gram negative and gram positive sepsis and edit accordingly and add new sources.
• Will add one short section regarding fungal related sepsis.

== Diagnosis ==

• Will add subheading labeled "definition"
  • Will add information regarding the different classification systems such as qSOFA, SIRS, SIRS and organ dysfunction in an organized manner as this is missing from the article. This will be added after the portion of the current subheading that discusses septic shock as a part of distributive shock.
• Will add subheading labeled "signs and symptoms" that will describe different general signs and symptoms of different types of septic shock. symptoms such as, fever, chills, skin molting, or bruising skin.
• Will add subheading labeled "diagnostic tools". This section will discuss tools such as blood cultures and other methods of diagnosing septic shock.

• Will update each section with new relevant information regarding different treatments. Organization is good as is.
• Will add section labeled "management". I plan to divide this section into 3 more subsections labeled "emergency department management", "hospital floor management", and "intensive care unit management" and describe the general managment of septic shock in each of these settings as they can differ based on setting.

Hello! Here is my peer review for the course Wiki Education assignment: WikiProject Medicine Winter 2026 UCF COM - Block 8:

- Lead section:

• Did a great job of quickly defining septic shock with appropriate/reliable sources like Sepsis-3.
• Not sure if there is a linkable page for Sepsis-3 but if there is, it might be helpful to link to!

- Causes:

• Good job adding numerical data to help understand what are common causes of sepsis vs what make up rare causes of sepsis cases.
• Liked how you added statement about how gram positive and negative bacteria are common causes prior to having individual sections on each of them.
• In the gram negative section, some sentences are a little long (>26 words) and may benefit from shortening (but I also get that with a lot of immuno stuff, you need lots of explanation)

- Diagnosis

• Really liked this section! Think you did a good job in describing SIRS and qSOFA with appropriate references.

- Signs and symptoms:

• Agree that this needed to be an added section because presentation is very important in septic shock.
• Good job going through system because of very unique and specific presentations throughout.
• Overall, I think this section could benefit from linking some symptoms to linkable pages if they exist (maybe not all but some like saddle anesthesia/CVA tenderness that readers may not know as commonly)

- Diagnostic tools:

• Again, I really like the smaller sections like imaging, lab testing, etc. I think it makes a fairly complicated topic more digestible and gives the reader some direction.

- Treatment:

• Had a good base prior to edits, but did a good job in adding more information on the role of fluids.
• In case you wanted to have a reference for every sentence, the fist sentence in the fluids section is missing a reference.
• Very succinct delivery of information regarding antibiotics
• Could be useful to link antibiotics//pressors/steroids/etc. to their pages

- Epidemiology:

• Great data with appropriate references.

Caption for oil painting image should explain the relevance of the painting to sepsis

The caption for this image doesn't really explain how the image is relevant to sepsis. The caption just gives some statistics on sepsis, then credits the painter.

I guess we're to assume that it's a painting of someone with sepsis. But, I don't think any assumptions should need to be made about anything on this site. I'm sure many will agree.

I think a more relevant caption should be made explaining the connection between the two more clearly. You can even keep the statistics. Just include some sort of context as to what this is a painting of. VoidHalo (talk) 22:54, 30 June 2026 (UTC)
