I can't find any other reference to this supposed founding date, amongst others, not in the article about al Qaeda. From looking trough google results, I must conclude that the best that's known is that Al Qaeda was bounded somewhere 1987-1988ish, googling for this exact date doesn't yield any result relating to Al Qaeda. --Jeroen@wolffelaar.nl 145.97.220.2201:06, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Issy Smith is perceived as notable. I am neither challenging nor supporting this, but am accepting as a status quo.
Last year, for the second consecutive instance, his death was reported on "DYK" as occurring on 11 September. Just after this anniversary, I read his biography, published in 2022, ISBN of 978-1-92-573684-7. It quotes two primary sources, one being his death certificate, that confirm his death on 10 September 1940.
This date has been engraved on his headstone.
"Headstone of Issy Smith V.C. died on 10-9-40". Retrieved 7 July 2025– via Victorian Association of Jewish Ex & Servicemen & Women Australia Incorporated. "903001 SGT. ISSY SMITH V.C. 1st Btn MANCHESTER REGT 10-9-40 HIS LIFE A BEAUTIFUL MEMORY. HIS ABSENCE A LASTING SORROW." inscribed on headstone.

I noticed that Charlie Kirk was noted to be excluded from the Deaths section as its in the Events section, but people like for example Wolfgang von Trips, for example, are included in both.
