Separase during Anaphase, not Metaphase

[edit]

Please see this paper which says, " Anaphase is triggered when separase cleaves the Scc1 subunit of cohesin at two specific recognition sequences." It seems that genetics textbooks are actually incorrect. 134.241.58.181 (talk) 20:47, 4 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Not sure what is the point here. Separase gets activated by the Anaphase Promoting Complex/Cyclosome or APC/C by degrading the inhibitor securin.
This leads to active separase that cleaves itself and the cohesin subunit Scc1, a process that triggers Anaphase.
Hope this helps. 2A02:AA17:380:BB80:E092:4C36:EA1E:C37F (talk) 06:25, 12 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
