Minorities

[edit]

According to a book I have, the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies are elected in the same way. Does this mean that the national minorities are entitled to a seat in the Senate, just like they are in the Chamber of Deputies?? --Oddeivind (talk) 11:15, 17 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

No. Both houses of Parliament are elected by the same manner, but the results are counted separately. That is: for each house 5% the threshold is calculated separately. The law also states that the representatives of the recognised national minorities that do not pass the electoral threshold are entitled to a suplementary seat only int the Chamber of Deputies, if they pass a different, special, threshold.
