History

Can someone please add some history about the Seecamp on how it was the first gun of this kind to spark the latest craze for pocket pistols? --BillyTFried 02:54, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure I have the source material for this--I'm also not sure I agree that it sparked the pocket pistol craze. The Seecamp history I have is from the Blue Book of Gun Values, and the reason I don't think it caused the pocket pistol craze is that demand for them was not that high until the Brady Bill and the subsequent CCW laws were passed. Those laws created the demand; the Seecamps had been around for over a decade by then, but the sudden new demand for conceable pistols and the relative lack of supply of high quality guns (the GCA of 1968 knocked out the Europeans like the PPK, and most people didn't trust the cheap Davis, Phoenix, and Raven guns) caused the price of Seecamps to skyrocket. I remember seeing a couple of CONTRACTS for Seecamp .32s sell for double the face value, more than six months prior to the delivery date. It was after this that the huge surge in pocket guns started--from the Para Ordnance P-10 to the compack Glocks to the KelTec line, all of which compete in the same market, but few of which compare to the power to size ratio of the Seecamp. scot 17:37, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
